Biography

Since 2005, Kevin has been Associate professor and Reader at the School of Earth Sciences at the University of Melbourne. Kevin’s main research has been on the effect of climate change and variability on tropical weather systems. Using climate models, he has simulated the effect of climate change on the intensity of tropical cyclones in the Australian region. His study was the first to do so in the Australian region. Currently, among other projects, he is addressing the issue of how to assess the ability of climate models to simulate tropical cyclones and how this might be improved. Kevin is a former President of the Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society and Deputy Group Leader of the Climate Impact Group at CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research. He is currently an editor of Journal of Climate.
