Biography

Nicky completed her PhD at the University of Sydney in 2017, where she explored the sensitivity and consequences of plate tectonic reconstructions and palaeobathymetry to long timescale sea-level changes and palaeocean circulation. She is interested in reconstructing past changes in Earth’s climate using both models and proxy data, as well as the relationship between climate and geodynamics throughout significant periods of climate change during the Cenozoic era (past 65 million years). Nicky joined the Research School of Earth Sciences at ANU as a postdoctoral fellow in 2018, where her research aims to better understand the natural range of climate variability over the last millennium, in palaeoclimate data and models, and how this relates to climate extremes.
