Biography

After his BSc at the University of Tasmania, Chris did a PhD in Physical Oceanography at UNSW with Jason Middleton and Andy Moore, applying generalised stability theory to understand eddy generation in coastal shear flows. He applied these techniques to the ACC during a postdoc with Andy at the University of Colorado. Since then he has collaborated closely with Sergio Navarrete from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile on the dynamics of marine metapopulations. He has also worked on topics in climate dynamics, coastal and fjord circulation, ocean observing systems, and most recently issues in coastal restoration in his position at CQUniversity’s Coastal Marine Ecosystem Research Centre.
