Biography

Luwei is a physical oceanographer and currently a Research Fellow at the Australian National University. She received her PhD from the University of Tasmania in 2019, where her research focused on investigating the impacts of lee waves on the Southern Ocean circulation using an eddy-resolving ocean model in MOM6. After completing her PhD, she joined the University of California, Los Angeles as a Postdoctoral Scholar to understand the eddy—near-inertial wave interactions in the North Atlantic Subpolar Gyre using ROMS. At the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes, she is part of the Modelling Research Program, where her current work seeks to understand the impacts of internal tides on the Southern Ocean circulation and the ocean heat transport towards Antarctica.
