Biography

Peter has a broad understanding of processes relevant to the Australian climate and has now joined the Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes to investigate the “Tinderbox Drought”. Previously, he held positions at CSIRO and the Bureau of Meteorology where he focused on a wide range of topics, from understanding changes in modes of climate variability, to investigating how changes in weather systems affect river catchment runoff. Peter received his PhD from Monash University in 2020 focusing on the influence of El Niño-Southern Oscillation on east Australian rainfall. Following that, he completed a postdoc at Monash University exploring climate model biases and tropical interbasin interactions.
