Biography

Alejandro is currently trying to better understand future changes in the most extreme low pressure systems that develop over the Tasman Sea adjacent to the Australian coast (Australian East Coast Lows). For this, he performs a variety of simulations using limited-area atmospheric models including very-high resolution simulations (convection permitting) and ocean-coupled models. Alejandro is also interested in more general issues related to regional climate modelling such as their evaluation and the determination of their added value. More recently he has done some work on temperature extremes at global scales and the Australian snowpack.
