Biography

Janith Wanniarachchi is a fresh PhD student at the Department of Economics and Business Statistics. He is currently working on his research under the supervision of Di Cook, Patricia Menendez and Kate Saunders, on the topic of using Explainable Artificial Intelligence and Data Visualization for Climate Sciences. Before joining Monash University he was an R Shiny Developer at Appsilon building Shiny dashboards for the life sciences industry and working on R packages. His academic journey started as an undergraduate at University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Sri Lanka where he completed his BSc. (Hons.) in Statistics. His research interests are mainly on Explainable Artificial Intelligence, Data Visualization with a dash of Forecasting and Climate Modeling. Apart from his usual research interests, he has an avid interest in D3.js, scrollytelling and writing stories and poems.
